Research

The research in the Structural Mechanics Division focusses on vibration problems in the built environment and system identification of civil engineering structures. Numerical implementations as well as in situ measurements are of great importance for these developments. Therefore, the division can rely on powerful computer hardware and software and is very well equipped to perform vibration measurements in laboratory and in situ conditions. Apart from fundamental research, collaboration with industrial partners within the frame of practical applications is important. The research in the Structural Mechanics Division concerns different topics:

Dynamic soil-structure interaction

Vibrations in the built environment

Dynamic system identification

Vibration based structural identification and evaluation

The Structural Mechanics Division participates in several research projects and is a member of OPTEC.
